Following a brief campaign period, the candidates for four Beloit Student Government (BSG) executive positions were put to a vote this past weekend. The winners were announced to the student body the morning of Monday, Nov. 6, and were met with great congratulations. The newly elected officers consist of BSG President Camille Ledoux’25 with 47.1% of student votes, Vice President Momina Amjad’26 (38.0%), Communications Director Sristi Halder’26 (53.9%), and Funding Board Director Julie Bach’26 (64.3%).

The new executives will “take office” in the upcoming Spring semester, and look forward to bringing about excitement and positive change in the community.

Ledoux, a political science and environment studies double major, told The Round Table that aside from the baseline responsibilities of the president, including regular meetings with President Eric Boynton and the college’s Board of Trustees, she also plans to boost students’ campus engagement. This plan includes increased publicization of all types of campus events, from sports games to choir concerts, as well as drawing more awareness to frequently overlooked student resources on campus, mentioning the funding board and Career Works.

An international student from Quebec, British Columbia, Ledoux has always been enthusiastic about justice and politics (fun fact: she’s a paralegal!) and after serving as her high school’s student body president for two terms, decided it was something that she wanted to continue into college. She feels even better about her new position with all of the support she has received from her peers, and hopes to give that same support in return by ensuring that BSG is a resource for students’ questions, concerns and ideas be heard.

She also wanted the people to know that she was almost late to the Beloit Town Hall meeting on the eve of the election after losing her phone on the volleyball team’s senior night celebration, but still made it on time and won almost half of the student body vote, which is pretty boss of her.

Previous student government interest seems to be a common thread connecting the new executives. Having served as part of her high school’s student council and BSG’s funding board her first year, Amjad is prepared to continue advocating for inclusivity on campus to ensure all students get the most out of their college experience. She is also enthusiastic about bringing together campus organizations, academic departments, and administrative offices in her time as vice president, as she believes this will strengthen the campus community even more.

Halder shares a similar passion after having run her own student organization in her hometown of Dhaka, Bangladesh, which now holds over 300 members. Her new role as Communications Director will entail active engagement between campus and BSG by managing communication channels such as BSG’s social media and StuBoard. She is passionate about making the workings and responsibilities of BSG clear and accessible information to the rest of campus. The forthcoming BSG executive board is prepared to take on their positions with ardor and compassion for all students. The general message seems to be that the student body knows what needs to be done to make Beloit a better place for all, and BSG is ready to make sure we are heard. In the words of Vice President Momina Amjad, “together, we are unstoppable, and together, we will achieve great things.” We wish the new officers the best of luck as they prepare for their new positions.
