C-Haus is back, baby.
It’s Saturday night. C-Haus is packed. The venue is buzzing with excitement, packed to the brim as Greg Nelson’24 sets the dance floor ablaze with the hottest hits. The bar’s mini-fridges, once brimming with a diverse array of beers, now stood depleted. Students from Beloit College reveled on the dance floor, casting aside winter’s melancholy and embracing the promise of warmer days.
But, oh no! The plot thickened, and not just because of spilled beer. Enter the long arm of the law, threatening to crash the party like your ex-boyfriend standing outside your dorm window calling your name… On a noise complaint (the roof was being raised too high, I suppose), the fuzz arrived. James, our beloved C-Haus manager, was able to expertly negotiate between authority and the undying spirit of C-Haus. The police, realizing they were outmatched by the dance floor, made a hasty retreat.
This incident became a symbol of something far greater than initially imagined—a moment of transcendence that rises above and aligns with Beloit’s storied past. How many times has C-Haus faced interruptions by “The Man” before? In this critical moment, the students in attendance stand hand in hand with history, dancing with their forefathers and ancients.
This was C-Haus’s second night of revelry in a row. Both nights brought the building’s carrying capacity to the limit. The previous night, there was a major collab between Latinx Voices, Femco, and Spanish Club for Latin Night: Women’s History Month edition. They sold flan and yaniqueques to raise funds for Voces Latinas. There was nary a piece of flan to be purchased by the end of the night. There was music, dance, and beautiful karaoke sung by beautiful karaoke singers. They raised over $100 during the night — thank you to everyone who showed out and supported.
Looking ahead, C-Haus will be open this Thursday for Geology Trivia (thank you to the Geology Club!). However, please note that it will be closed on Friday and Saturday in honor of Spring Break, allowing both staff and patrons to recharge and return.
