Inkwell Books & Threads hosted a Spellbound Social on September 27 to kick off spooky season. The social took place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and featured activities including Henna tattoos, chair massages, and tarot and astrology readings.
Inkwell Books & Threads is a local bookstore in Rockton, Illinois. It sells various items, including new and used books, clothing, trinkets, and bookish accessories.
According to Tierra Polfliet, the owner, the event’s goal was to “get people to come down and spend some time with members of the community.”
Tierra and Darrel Polfliet began renting the space last November. “There aren’t a lot of local bookstores around, and we thought it would be a great addition to the community.”
They carry new and used books, as well as clothes, with Christopher’s designs. A whole bookshelf is designated to local authors, and they hold book signing events to help promote them.
Bookish merchandise is also available, including bookmarks, keychains and tumblers. For this event, they had new witchy merchandise to showcase: ghost keychains, 3D-printed witch page holders and handmade bead spiders.
Reverent Henna, a branch of Reverent Creations LLC, was there providing Henna tattoos. Christopher and Bridget, a husband-and-wife duo, run the company. Christopher is internationally certified, and all of their designs are custom and hand-drawn by him. Bridget is the business manager.
“We have a wide variety of designs to choose from. We can mix and match different aspects of our designs to make a design you will love,” Bridget said when asked about their designs. The options they showcased followed the spooky theme: spiderwebs, moons, cats, skulls and more.
The store is familiar with hosting tarot card readings, as it has done so many times. Other events they host include book clubs, where the cost to join is just the cost of the book, and creative writing workshops throughout October.
They are located at 106A W Main St., Rockton, IL, and more information can be found at their website, inkwellbooks.store, or their Facebook, Inkwell Books & Threads.
