You may have heard through the grapevine that Beloit College’s storage policy is changing again. To soothe your worries, I interviewed the head of Residential Life, Randi Mogul, and it turns out the only thing changing is the location. You still must live more than 1,000 miles away, be an international student, or be studying abroad to utilize the school’s storage spaces. The change is that storage will no longer be in Porter Hall, it will be in Whitney Hall. When asked when the location change was going into effect, Moguli said that a document would be sent out at some point, and people would have to sign up to reserve space for their things. It will be first come, first serve because once Whitney is full, they won’t be able to accommodate any more. There will also be a liability waiver that says Res Life is not responsible if anything happens to people’s belongings. When I asked about the reason for the location change, Mogul said Porter’s storage space is “awful, it’s cramped, it’s old, and has flooded before. It’s just not a safe space for people’s belongings. Whitney just got renovated so it’s really bright, it’s air-conditioned, it’s immaculate.” So in conclusion, keep an eye out for the form if you’re interested in making use of the school’s storage opportunities, and thank the construction men for working to provide us with a better, cleaner storage option.
