Beloit College swimming and diving competed in the Beloit Mid-Season Meet over Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Bucs had a successful meet, breaking a few school records along the way.
The first day of the home swim meet showcased diving programs of only the 3 meter. Buccaneer divers Helena Harrison’25 and Elsa Gregory’28 competed against each other and were only accompanied by one other diver, who was a men’s diver from Illinois College.
It was a successful first day for the Bucs. Harrison showcased 11 dives and put up an impressive score of 223.10, while Gregory set a new personal best with a score of 186.3.
The second day showcased great individual talent from the Buccaneers. Freshman Lydia Nordgren’28 led the way for the women’s team on day two. Nordgren posted school records in both of her events, taking the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.19 and the 100-yard butterfly, bringing home a 58.42.
Sophomore Jeremy Mueller’27 continued to dominate for the Bucs’ men’s team. He claimed wins in both the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, posting times of 46.66 and 51.60. He continues to look unbeatable when he steps onto the blocks.

Day three saw a lot of familiar faces on the top step of the podium. Nordgren posted two more fantastic times, securing wins in her last two races and all four for the meet. She showcased her speed, taking the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.54, and her endurance with a win in the 200 butterfly, 2:14.72.
Mueller continued his dominance, taking two more victories and bringing his total first-place finishes up to four. He and Nordgren won all four of their races. On day three, he took home victories in the 50 freestyle, 21.43, and the 200 freestyle 1:42.21.
Even with the familiar faces, one Buccaneer was able to break through and set a new record of her own. Senior Maclaryn Leonard’25 swam a fantastic final in the 100-yard backstroke, setting a time of 1:01.93.
The women’s relay team had a couple of great races as well, securing two victories. The 200-yard medley relay team took the top step on the podium, bringing home a 1:55.53. The women’s 400 freestyle relay team ended the night strong, winning with a time of 3:50.43, after a strong last leg that put them ahead.
The Bucs won’t jump back in the pool until after the Thanksgiving break but will compete next at Illinois College on December 7, in a dual meet against Illinois College and Millikin University.
