Bucs On The Road: Away Game Recaps

So many Buccaneers were gone from our campus this weekend, but not from our hearts, starting with Swimming and Diving leaving us on Thursday Feb. 19. There were so many ups and downs, but what counts is friendship and getting to go on cool ass buses with your boys.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field traveled to the University of Chicago for the Margaret Bradley Invitational on Feb. 21. Josh Yearby’27, once again, took an unprecedented amount of dubs. He got first in all of the short sprints and placed first in  the 200-meter dash.

The Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive teams kicked off their 2026 Midwest Conference Championship at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, on Thursday, Feb. 19. Jacob Fuller’28, swimmer and diver, left his beautiful cat, Carl, with Nel Shay’28 and Maggie Atkinson’28 for the long weekend. To my knowledge, he’s been spoiled in their double room in Wood and even made another feline friend. On Saturday, Feb. 21, Elsa Gregory’28 scored 6th in Women’s 1-meter Diving. Lydia Nordgren’28, Norah Owens’29, Lylah Murrah’27, and Amelia Pullen’26 scored 6th in the 200-Yard Medley Relay on Thursday.

Women’s Hockey played on Feb. 20 at UW-Superior, suffering a 1-0 loss. I guess the opponent’s namesake proved right this time, being the superior team that night. They played Superior again the next day, and lost again, with a final score of 4-2. Julia Fussy’28 and Claire Dixon’29 scored the two goals of the game, respectively. We’ll get ‘em next season, ladies.

The Softball team also suffered a defeat on Saturday, falling by a score of 3-0 to Webster University. BUT THEN! There was another game, and the Bucs absolutely crushed Webster, winning 13-0. Allie Gustafson’28 batted in the most runs, putting 4 on the board for the Bucs. Holy moly. Great job.

Men’s and Women’s Basketball ended both their seasons this weekend with losses. Men’s Basketball ended their season with a 65-58 loss to Ripon. Of the Bucs, Anthony Carter’27 scored the most with a whopping 19 points. The women lost 70-49, with forward Hailey Johnson’26 recording 16 points, the most of any Buc that game.

Are we cooked? I don’t think so. Keep your heads up, Bucs. Keep up with your protein goals, study for your tests, and stay woke. Can’t wait to see the beautiful things you do. Love you guys.
