I love the sweetness of fresh celery. I love chocolate hazelnut wafers that dissolve on my tongue. I love my mopey dog, whose eighth birthday just passed without extraordinary presents. I love people who write helpful restaurant reviews on Google. Today I love the words “gobble” and “beluga.” My honey was too runny so I put it in the refrigerator and now it is just the right thickness! I love wool sweaters and silk long johns. When I first learned to crack my knuckles I cracked my thumbs for an hour straight until the pop was all used up — when the pop comes back, imagine my glee! I love when a squirrel is speckled and puny. I love telling stories when I’ve mastered the punchline. There is a professor here who looks to me like a beautiful Italian actress and another who looks like a girl babydoll (though both are adult men). When I think of them, I smile. I have been feeling very open-hearted lately.

Things I love right now. Wow. There seems to be too much love surrounding me (is that possible?), so it’s hard to choose. I love complaining to a listening ear (shoutout to Theta Pi Gamma), I love coincidence. Right now, I’m on an Amtrak train back to Chicago after a visit with my friend from University of Michigan. There, I met two of his friends who knew my friend at Beloit from high school! I love that I’m still a little drunk from last night (I’m 21 now you can’t do anything about it) and that everything is funny. I don’t love that I’m spinning, but I’ll soon be on the Blue Line, heading towards the Green Eye Lounge in Bucktown (another thing I love) where I’ll get a Bloody Mary. Hair of the dog, that’s what they say. I love seeing the first snow of the season through my train window, listening to “maybe” by Dan Reeder, thinking about all the things I love right now.

Doing puzzles on the floor of my room while listening to music or a podcast. Time actually moves so quickly and it’s very therapeutic to sort through pieces. I get my puzzles from the lending library in the Mail Center. Sometimes I want to be alone in my room but am tired of looking at my computer and this is something low effort but fun.
Watching “Parts Unknown” before I go to bed. It’s so peaceful and interesting and Anthony Bourdain was just the best.
Olive the dog at J & G’s Coins, Rings and Things downtown. Sorry, if you know me you’re probably tired of hearing about her but she is the cutest sweetest dog and a licensed emotional support dog at that!

A playlist I made of all of the songs in seasons 1 and 2 of “Grey’s Anatomy,” — I love walking around campus listening to it, seeing all the pretty fall leaves, and feeling like I’m a character in a whimsical early 2000s show or movie instead of a struggling college student.
Making coffee in the morning made out of espresso concentrate mixed with strawberry protein shakes, it’s so so yummy.
Getting ready for nights out with my friends on the weekends 🙂
