Beloit College has officially made it past homecoming weekend, so let’s discuss the shenanigans of current students and alumni, especially for making it through the busiest weekend of our 2026 college experience.
Alumni were allowed to visit classes on Friday, and many showed up across campus. There was a photography show in Gallery ABBA at CELEB, an E-Sports Gaming Open House, a poster show in the Science Center, and an awards assembly.
This all happened before alumni dinners began. Alumni dinners for 60+, 50, 40, 25, 10, and 1-year reunions took place all over campus, before an hour to observe campus from the Observatory on the second floor of the Science Center. On Saturday, Aug. 19, C-Haus was reopened for the Last Call Legends event, which took place from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
The next morning, President Eric Bonynton welcomed alumni with the directors of each of the college’s schools, giving them the chance to ask their most pressing questions about academics at Beloit. Alumni attended events like tours of campus or the Wright Museum, as well as visiting the Farmers’ Market.
The forecast of rain during the parade prompted the administration to cancel it. Instead, alumni headed over to the tailgate and began eating and drinking. Whether it was the rain that stopped people from having true fun, not a single alumni was drunk enough at the football game to properly heckle the refs and the other team.
Although the Bucs managed to hold Luther back for most of the first quarter, a touchdown and successful field goal started them off, and the Bucs weren’t able to come back. For more about the football game, you can find it on page 6.
After drying off, the Anthropology department had their reception for their 100 year anniversary. Afterwards, alumni were able to party again in C-Haus, and then in TKE, for as long as their hearts desired, with a Taco Nenos food truck parked at the Wall.
Sunday had a short schedule, allowing alumni to return to their everyday lives. A remembrance ceremony was held in Eaton Chapel to honor alumni who are no longer with us. After was an optional brunch at Commons before the Athletics Hall of Honor Ceremony for 2026 honorees.
Now campus returns to a normal week of classes, with suggestions from alumni about mischief and other ideas of how campus used to be, and how it could be now.
