Student Writing: “Nosebleed”

By VIVIAN KOPKA

Wet Pressure builds in the sinuses, nostrils

glides down the lips

pours down the throat

the tongue tastes metal, seeping

on the lips, chin

crouched,

water blesses a Body

glides down the lips

pours down the throat

Visions of you

Piece of a Continent

a United Heart broken

A little Blood Spilled

the tongue tastes metal, seeping

on the lips, chin

Where is God?

a bloody body

on the lips, chin

of agony

Yours and Ours

Dreaming of You

Money and Shoes

And single-use lovers

the tongue tastes metal, seeping

And oil,

thick, sweet oil

glides down the lips

pours down the throat

the tongue tastes metal, seeping

on the lips, chin

crouched,

water blesses a Body
