Flood Arena was buzzing Tuesday night as the Beloit College volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 sweep against Moody Bible Institute (25-22, 25-18, 25-18). The win puts the Bucs at 2-1 on the season and showed off exactly what this team can do when they find their rhythm.

The first set began with a slow start for Beloit, but the momentum quickly shifted after a pivotal sequence: Naomi Murphy’27’s block sent the ball back over, and after a response from Moody, Addy Schmidt’28 started the winning play with a strong pass, a sharp set from Aaliyah Gerard’29 and a back-row kill hammered home by Selin Tufte’28. That rally not only gave the Bucs an early lead but also set the tone for the rest of the night.

From that point forward, Beloit’s hitters stayed aggressive. Kyra Suiter-Meyers’27 led the way with 11 kills, Murphy and Kierra Rayne Hoover’27 chipped in six kills each, while consistent attacks across the lineup kept Moody Bible on their heels.

The second set turned into a point-for-point battle as both teams traded responses, but Beloit’s composure and spirit came through. The Buccaneers maintained their rhythm, steadily building momentum before finishing the set.

In the third set, the Bucs’ depth and discipline sealed the sweep. Strong serving added to the pressure, with players delivering aces that kept Moody’s defense scrambling. Beloit’s back row remained solid, limiting attack errors and keeping plays alive with quick reactions.

After a long pre-season filled with hard work, this victory highlights good effort and spirit from the Buccaneers. With all hitters contributing to the rising score and the back row maintaining consistency through rotations and passes. Coach Lehua will look to carry this momentum into the upcoming weeks, with the next home game on September 16 against Loras College.
