In a shocking turn of events, Israel reportedly bombed key sites in Qatar, sending shock waves through the global community.
The attack took place on Sept. 9, 2025 in a residential neighbourhood of Doha.
For years, Qatar has hosted Hamas’s political bureau with U.S. approval to facilitate communication and negotiations. The strike occurred as Qatar, the U.S., and Egypt were mediating a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
The attack killed five Hamas members and a Qatari security official, but the key negotiators survived.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the operation targeted Hamas leadership responsible for the Oct. 7, 2023, attack and was a “wholly independent Israeli operation.” The Israeli ambassador to the U.S. stated that if leaders were missed, they would “get them next time.”
