On Friday, Sept. 12th, Beloit’s women’s soccer team faced the Edgewood College Eagles in a close game. The first half was full of close calls for the Bucs, but were thankfully kept out by goalkeeper Kaya Williams’26 or other defenders. Offensively, Beloit struggled to find any rhythm, and it seemed that Edgewood knew where Beloit’s passes were going to be before they did. These interceptions caused a lot of turmoil in the backline. The Eagles also played a very physical game and committed 10 fouls throughout the whole game, which awarded one of them a yellow card in the second half. Unfortunately, Edgewood managed to break through Beloit’s defense and convert in the 75th minute.
Beloit’s lack of offense was reflected in the final game stats, with Beloit only having two shots on goal compared to Edgewood’s nine. The Bucs also only had two corner kicks throughout the whole game. Beloit’s defense played well, saving eight of Edgewood’s nine shots.
The atmosphere at the game was a lot quieter than expected, with the men’ soccer team being the only ones in attendance. The Bucs’ next game is at home where they will play Carroll University.
