On Oct. 4, Beloit College football faced off against a strong Cornell College team in a 26-19 loss in front of a considerably small home crowd. The first quarter saw Cornell put up 13 points on the Bucs, including a 40 yard pick-six and a five yard touchdown pass. Beloit’s defense had a slow start in the first, with junior Jurian Rivera’27 blocking one of Cornell’s extra points. In the second quarter, Beloit found its rhythm, with quarterback Jared Torres’27 throwing a 15 yard touchdown pass to AJ Williams’29. On defense, Beloit created key chances, including linebacker Connor Rose’26 recovering a fumble on the goal line, stopping a crucial Cornell touchdown. At the end of the second quarter, Quentin Schane recorded an interception.

When asked about the Bucs’ performance at halftime, videographer Bryce Ferrall’27 said that “We’ve seen one successful drive, and a few different near successes. You can see that we have the components to make something happen, but compared to other teams, we’re just not doing it as consistently.” Consistency has been an issue for the Bucs this year, who still struggle to find a win.

After halftime, Cornell put up another touchdown, with the defense playing their hardest to try and stop a dominant Rams offense. In the fourth quarter freshman quarterback Ben Parker’29 made a short but powerful impact, leading the offense down the field in a late game drive and rushing in for a 1-yard touchdown as time expired in a 26-19 Beloit loss.

Beloit football’s next game is Oct. 11, where they play at Lake Forest College.
