Puzzle Pieces

It was a case of infatuation

One that sneaks up on you with little thought.

It wraps its arms around your heart

And refuses to let go

Until you accept that it is now a part of you.

Dancing around the kitchen in matching pajamas

The comfortable silence that ensues a deep conversation.

Words are not needed as you know what one another is thinking

Mundane tasks become pleasurable with their company

Fight or flight reflexes appear during arguments

So stubborn and sure neither can be wrong

Cracks appear in the frame

Doubt and worry seep through

Until resolution peaks over the horizon

Communication dispelling the fear

These little moments sneak up on you

The memories filter through

As they give more of themselves to you

Each a piece of a puzzle

Coming together to form a picture you hold dear

It was a case of infatuation

One that grew beyond words and thought

A hope now accompanies it

Hand it hand

Where maybe one day

You can be the final piece to their puzzle

Their best friend,

Their partner,

Their companion,

The keeper of their heart

For life.
