Saturday, October 5, the Beloit Women’s soccer team faced up against the Monmouth Fighting Scots. Coach John Baille said before the game “This whole season has been about developing a new style of play and building a trust between the returners, new players, and new coaching staff. As we head into conference play we have found that trust and are showing it in our success on the field.”

Game time had good weather as the team stepped onto the field, and Beloit had kickoff. The first goal happened seven minutes into the game, a corner shot by Monmouth. Our lady Bucs were able to come back very quickly with a slotted ball between the Monmouth backline sent to Abby Scott. Monmouth scored very early in the second half as well, but Beloit struggled to come back the second time around. With just less than fifteen minutes on the clock, Hannah Semsprott shot a ball that landed beautifully in the far post net. They continued to fight through the remaining minutes and had some marvelous shots. Unfortunately, they were unable to capitalize, and the women finished with a 2-2 tie.

Coach Baille said after the game, “The team battled well to come back from down 0-1 and then again 2-1. We came close to getting the outcome we wanted and now have to look to compete in the rest of the conference and make the conference tournament.” Beloit Women’s Soccer plays another conference game at home on Tuesday at 4:30 against Lawrence University. Come support your fellow Buccaneers!
