Beloit’s women’s soccer team won their final game of the season last week in a dominant 3-0 win against Cornell College. Coming into the game, they looked to maintain their win streak after a massive 9-0 win against Maranatha Baptist University.
The Bucs started strong, with midfielder Willow Mashkuri’28 scoring a chip-shot over Cornell’s keeper in the 9th minute. The offense maintained the pressure throughout the rest of the first half, and Keira Werner’29 assisted striker Sarah Connors’29 to score a shot from inside the box, making it 2-0 in the 11th minute.
The second half saw Beloit assert more control over Cornell, with Sarah Connors scoring her second goal with another assist from Keira Werner, solidifying the Bucs’ win. Throughout the match, Beloit outshot Cornell 14-6, and goalkeeper Sophia Dietz’29 kept a clean sheet with six crucial saves, keeping the Bucs in the game.
Beloit also celebrated senior day, recognizing defender Meah Mora’26 and goalkeeper Kaya Williams’26 and all their contributions to the team.
The team finished with an overall record of 4-11-2 with a 2-5-1 record in Midwest Conference play. While the women’s team didn’t make it to the conference tournament, major milestones were hit. Sarah Connors is the first player to have more than nine goals since the 2018 season. Beloit looks to build on a talented, young team in the upcoming seasons.
